Don’t delay the time is now!

“Conditions are never just right. People who delay action until all factors are favorable do nothing.” ~ William Feather

That quote is what I will blog about today. That quote also is along the lines of what I have been thinking about today. How people always look for things to be just right how they always find a reason an excuse of why they can’t do something. If you say you want to do something if you commit to do something then you need to see it through and you need to not find excuses of why you can’t or don’t do it. This kind of makes me think about coaching groups of runners and how sometimes the athlete wants to commit to the schedule and workouts and maybe they do for awhile? And then one day they skip and then they skip again and again and they use an excuse of alarm clocks not going off or whatever it may be. But once they get out of that consistent rhythm then all derails and they struggle to gain focus and get back into that groove. Sure sometimes things come up and you need to skip a workout etc… because well life and that’s all cool. It’s when it becomes habit and then you consistently try to justify it and come up with an excuse that is no good.

It’s like waking up in the morning seeing it rain a little and saying yeah I can’t run today and then just go back to bed and never get that run in. Sure if the weather is just plain awful out you might say I’ll wait it out or something but maybe the better alternative would be just jump on the treadmill and bust out that workout. Maybe you say that you want to do a Triathlon or some new race distance but then come up with excuse after excuse of why this year is no good and I’ll do it next. And before long you never accomplish what you said you want to because you have found reasons to delay the action.

This is not a good trait and it needs to be fixed ASAP if you are this type of person. When you wake up each morning you need to say I’m ready to take on the day and I’m up for any challenge and you need to go get it. No delays, no excuses just make it happen and never quit on you. I know if I lived my life saying it’s not the right time I would have accomplished nothing in life. But yet I live outside the box and chase dreams and take on life saying whatever the day gives me is fine I’m going after it and will control what I can.

Keep chasing and don’t let anything stop you! Live life saying No Excuses! No delay! The time is now!!
Coach MB

Well this weekend a group of runners I coach/friends all headed down to New Prague to run a 5k or in Bob’s case a half marathon. This was a blast! The group went down and kicked some butt major PR times for everyone including myself and I was even the overall winner of the 5k with a time of 16:15.

Sunday morning I got up and rolled the Trek speed concept 9.9 Triathlon bike out and joined my buddies Bob and Dan for a 51 mile ride with 1450 feet of climbing. When I parked the bike in the garage I put the run shoes on (Pearl Izumi Iso-Transitions) and went and busted 4 miles at like 6:12 pace feeling comfortable and easy.

Fitness wise I’m feeling good these days even with all the multiple workouts and hard efforts. Not high run mileage right now but a lot of cycling followed by 3-4 mile runs. Some long swims etc…. it’s go time for the Ironman 70.3 Kansas and training is in full effect with no rest.

Love this. So true. Fits in with my motto, which I try to remember most days, “Make Today Count”. 🙂
